Start collecting the configuration and performance data for the XP and P9000 disk arrays.
For more information, see “Using P9000 Performance Advisor” on page 99.
Determining the current version of P9000 Performance Advisor
To upgrade to P9000 Performance Advisor v5.4, you must have one of the following versions, v5.2,
v5.2.1, v5.3, or v5.3.1 installed on your management station. To upgrade to v5.2 or v5.3, see the
HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software Installation Guide provided on installation
disk 2 in the respective software bundles. To upgrade to v5.2.1 or v5.3.1, see the HP StorageWorks
P9000 Performance Advisor Software Release Notes provided in the respective patch bundles. You
can upgrade to v5.2.1 or v5.3.1 only from v5.2 or v5.3 respectively.
IMPORTANT:
If you are using PA v4.0, v4.1, v4.5, or v4.5.1, your upgrade path should be: v4.0- v4.5.1–> v4.6
–> v.5.0 –> v5.2 or v5.3 –> v.5.4
To determine the version installed on your management station, log on to P9000 Performance Advisor
using your account credentials. You can also login using the default administrator account
(administrator:administrator), if the P9000 Performance Advisor Native Authentication
method has been selected for the existing version of P9000 Performance Advisor. The installed version
is displayed in the top left corner along with the product name and the build number in the P9000
Performance Advisor Dashboard screen.
IMPORTANT:
Ensure that the following prerequisites are completed before you begin the upgrade:
• Adequate free disk space (at least double the size of the existing database) is available on the
<Installation_Drive>, where you intend to perform the upgrade. For example, if P9000
Performance Advisor is installed on the C:\ drive, ensure that adequate free disk space is available
on C:\ before proceeding with the upgrade.
• The %PADB_HOME% environment variable points to the <Installation_Drive>:\HPSS\
padb location and the %PATH% environment variable points to the %PADB_HOME%\ora_db\
bin location.
• The HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Database service and the HP StorageWorks
P9000 Performance Advisor Database Listener service are active.
• If the %ORACLE_HOME%, %ORACLE_SID%, and %CATALINA_HOME% environment variables are
already configured on the management station, delete or rename them. You can recreate these
variables or rename them after the upgrade procedure is complete.
• Configure the antivirus and firewall policies on your management station and host to ensure unin-
terrupted communication between the two systems.
• You must not modify the DBParameters.properties file, as it leads to a failure while upgrad-
ing the P9000 Performance Advisor.
