HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software v5.4 Best Practices Guide (T1789-96334, April 2012)
2 General best practices for using
Performance Advisor
• For Performance Advisor and Command View AE to coexist, ensure that the following minimum
prerequisites are met before you proceed with the Performance Advisor installation:
• 30 GB free space on hard drive
• 4 GHz CPU or Dual processor system with minimum 2GHz CPU each
• 4 GB RAM
• HP recommends that the host system communicate with a maximum of three disk arrays (XP and
P9000 disk arrays) at a time.
• Ensure that you delete the HPSS folder from the management station before installing Performance
Advisor.
• When upgrading a pre-3.5 version of Performance Advisor to 4.6, it is recommended that you
do not use network mapped drives to back up the Solid database because, the migration of con-
figuration and performance data points over a network might take more time to complete.
• HP recommends that there be at least a week's historic data available for the forecasting feature
to provide accurate results, when you forecast using charts or alarms.
• To efficiently utilize the P9000Watch troubleshooting capabilities, avoid selecting the option “ALL”
from the available menus. P9000Watch is designed for focused troubleshooting and can capture
data as frequently as every 10 seconds.
• HP recommends to install P9000 Performance Advisor management station on standalone servers.
• HP recommends that you should stop host agent services before upgrading management station,
followed by host agent upgrade.
