2. Navigate to the Select operating system section and choose the appropriate Windows operating
platform for your management station.
3. Navigate to the Patch section and click Download. You can also click the link for the product
title in the Description column.
4. Double-click the Update.exe file.
The Open File - Security Warning dialog box appears.
5. Click Run.
The InstallShield Wizard dialog box appears. Wait for few seconds while the wizard prepares
for installation.
6. On the Welcome screen, click Update.
Wait for the installation procedure to complete.
7. Click Finish.
To verify if the upgrade is successful, do one of the following:
• Login to P9000 Performance Advisor and verify if the P9000 Performance Advisor version number
is upgraded to v5.3.1.
• In Add/Remove Programs, verify if the Performance Advisor version number is upgraded to v5.3.1.
After upgrading to v5.3.1 on the management station, continue upgrading the host agents to v5.3.1
on the respective hosts. The host agents upgrade steps are same as that mentioned for the v5.3 host
agents upgrade. For more information, see the HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software

Removing P9000 Performance Advisor v5.3.1
To remove P9000 Performance Advisor, you must remove the host agent from each host and then
remove P9000 Performance Advisor from the management station. Log on to the host and the
management station as a default administrator (administrator:administrator) to remove the host agents
and P9000 Performance Advisor respectively.
IMPORTANT:
• The v5.3 P9000 Performance Advisor and installed host agents are also removed as part of the
v5.3.1 un-installation.
• Ensure that the following are completed before you proceed:
No other user is accessing the folders in the <Installation_Directory>\HPSS
(%HPSS_HOME%) folder on the management station and the <Installation_Directory>\
Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\XPPA\hostagent folder on the respective hosts.
If it is a custom install location, the HPSS folder is available in the <Installation_Drive>:\
<Installation_Directory>\HPSS folder and the hostagent folder is available in the
<Installation_Drive>:\<Installation_Directory>\hostagent\config folder.
• None of the P9000 Performance Advisor related files, such as the log files, script files, properties
files are being accessed by other users.
