Description The HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software (P9000 Performance Advisor) collects, monitors, and displays the in-depth performance data of XP and P9000 (P9500) disk arrays, so that you can monitor the performance and utilization of components, such as the Logical Device (LDEV), Client-Host Interface Processor (CHIP) or Channel Adapter (CHA), Array Control Processor (ACP) or Disk Adapter (DKA), Disk Controller (DKC), or the MP blades.
Operating systems and JRE requirements P9000 Performance Advisor v5.3.1 supports the same list of operating systems for the management station and host systems that v5.3 supports. Removing the P9000 Performance Advisor host agent NOTE: If the Storage Area Manger 3.3 host agent is also installed on the same host as the P9000 Performance Advisor host agent, remove the P9000 Performance Advisor host agent before removing the Storage Area Manager host agent. Removing the Storage Area Manager host agent first might lead to the removal of some P9000 Performance Advisor components. Removing a Windows host agent To remove the Windows host agents, complete the following steps: 1.
Removing the P9000 Performance Advisor management station WARNING! Removing P9000 Performance Advisor also deletes the database completely from the management station. If you want to retain a copy of the database, click Cancel when prompted during the un-installation process. Then, take a backup of the database using the Backup utility (click Start > Programs > HP StorageWorks > Backup Utility). After the data backup is complete, resume the un-installation process.
Notes • The Repair and Modify functions are not available in the v5.3.1 patch installer. Workaround: In case of issues with the v5.3.1 patch installation, do the following: 1. Un-install the v5.3.1 patch on the management station and the respective hosts. 2. Install v5.3 P9000 Performance Advisor and host agents, and then apply the v5.3.1 patch. • All XP/P9500 FICON, ESCON channel, CHIP Port IDs are listed as, ‘Not Mapped’ on the Array View LDEV screen.
• When you plot a chart for more than 250 components, the performance graphs for only the first 250 components are displayed in the chart. Workaround: To plot performance graphs for more than 250 components, you have to plot the graphs for the first 250 components in the existing chart window and then plot the graphs for the remaining components in a new chart window.
• When a manual purge or data archival process is active, occasionally, you might notice that the management station overlooks data samples received from the host agents. • For XP disk arrays with concatenated parity groups, you might notice 4D+4D RAID type instead of two 2D+2D concatenated parity groups in the Performance Estimator screen.
Workaround: If the Performance Advisor security and tomcat services does not start after an installation, reboot the server. If the problem persists, contact HP support. • P9000Sketch does not support the .csv files generated using P9000Watch in the CLI mode. • When performance data collection is initiated, it is observed on a few occasions that the Critical status icon appears indicating that the collection failed. Also, the Event Log shows an incorrect message that the collection failed.
