HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software v5.2.1 Release Notes (T1789-96327, August 2011)

You must wait for an Inband or OutBand configuration collection to complete before you initiate
another configuration collection, as it is not possible to re-initiate a configuration data collection
(a limitation observed from v4.5 onwards).
When you schedule an Export DB report activity for an XP or a P9000 (P9500) disk array, the
severity type might be displayed as System Error for this activity on the Event Log screen instead
of User Action. However, it does not affect the progress of the report activity.
After an InBand or Outband mode of configuration collection is performed for an XP or a P9000
(P9500) disk array, the names of the associated hosts might be displayed as Unknown in the Host
column of the Data Grid Update screen. It is currently a limitation in P9000 Performance Advisor.
When a manual purge or data archival process is active, occasionally, you might notice that the
management station overlooks data samples received from the host agents.
For XP disk arrays with concatenated parity groups, you might notice 4D+4D RAID type instead
of two 2D+2D concatenated parity groups in the Performance Estimator screen.
While charting backend transfer metrics for DKAs or ACPs with concatenated RAID groups, you
might observe that the total write tracks do not match the sum of the individual DKC or ACP metrics.
An error log is displayed on the console of the AIX host agent in the following conditions:
P9000Watch is active on Advanced Interactive eXecutive (AIX) v5.3 or later
Multi-pathing (MPIO) is enabled on the AIX host agent
Parameters, dyntrk is set to yes and fc_error is set to fast_fail
The error log is also displayed when you execute errpt –a from the Kernel of the AIX operating
system. The following is an excerpt of the error log:
LABEL: FSCSI_ERR10IDENTIFIER: 1FB4FD21Date/Time: Mon Aug 10 15:03:51
CDT 2009Sequence Number: 269527
You can ignore the error log, as it does not impact the P9000Watch activities or the output it
provides.
The Windows host agent real-time service does not execute when SSL is being configured. So,
after configuring SSL on a P9000 Performance Advisor Windows host agent, perform the following
additional steps to restart the HP P9000 Performance Advisor RealTime Server:
1. Stop the P9000 Performance Advisor host agent and real-time services.
a. Go to the Services dialog box.
b. Right-click HP P9000 Performance Advisor Hostagent.
c. Click Stop in the pop-up window.
Similarly, stop the HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Realtime Server service.
2. Copy the following jar files, sunpkcs11.jar, sunjce_provider.jar, and
dnsns.jarcontents from %JAVA_HOME%\lib\ext to <Installed HA dir>\xppa\
realtime.
3. Start the P9000 Performance Advisor host agent and real-time services.
a. Go to the Services dialog box.
b. Right-click HP P9000 Performance Advisor Hostagent.
c. Click Start in the pop-up window.
Similarly, start the HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Realtime Server service.
When the response time from an XP or a P9000 (P9500) disk array is high (for example, around
3700 read I/Os with each taking close to 10 milliseconds), use a shorter performance data col-
lection frequency (around 2 minutes) in P9000 Performance Advisor.
