Description The HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software (P9000 Performance Advisor) collects, monitors, and displays the in-depth performance data of XP and P9000 (P9500) disk arrays, so that you can monitor the performance and utilization of components, such as the Logical Device (LDEV), Client-Host Interface Processor (CHIP) or Channel Adapter (CHA), Array Control Processor (ACP) or Disk Adapter (DKA), Disk Controller (DKC), or the MP blades.
Operating systems and JRE requirements The list of operating systems supported by the P9000 Performance Advisor management station and host systems is updated. To view the latest list, see the HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software v5.2 OS Support Matrix (May 2011) document: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.
To receive notifications, configure the SMTP notification settings in the PAMonitor_mail.properties file available in the :\HPSS\paMonitor\ conf folder on your management station. Starting, stopping, and restarting Windows host agent services from the Windows Start menu You can now start, stop, and restart Windows host agent services from the Start > Programs > HP Storage Works > HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Host Agent menu on your host system.
Also, for every port associated with a host group, you can view the aggregate of the average I/Os from each LDEV through that port. Similarly, you can view the average I/Os for each individual LDEV. Easy access to ports in the Charts - Frontend component selection tree The components selection under the Frontend main category in Charts is now rearranged.
So, while performing an Outband mode of configuration data collection, use the corresponding SVP IP address and RWC credentials for the selected P9000 (P9500) disk array. Similarly, while performing an Inband mode of configuration data collection or performance data collection, if the command device being used for collection is authentication enabled, enter the RWC credentials that have privileges to use the command device for the selected P9000 (P9500) disk array.
New performance metrics for host groups The following new performance metrics are added for host groups: • Avg IOPS: Average Front-end I/O per second • Avg MB: Average throughput Enhancements P9000 Performance Advisor v5.
Installing Performance Advisor For information on the prerequisites and installation procedure, see the HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software Installation Guide. Upgrading Performance Advisor For information on the upgrade prerequisites and procedure, see the HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software Installation Guide. Points to note This section describes important information related to P9000 Performance Advisor v5.2. In addition to JRE v6.
• The HP StorageWorks P9000 Performance Advisor Software User Guide is updated to state that the database related tools or functionalities should be executed with the same privilege that is used to install P9000 Performance Advisor, and that the user should be a member of the ORA_DBA Windows group. • P9000 Performance Advisor and HP Systems Insight Manager Agents can co-exist on the same management station from v5.2 onwards.
the MB/second data throughput is on the VVols rather than the pool LDEVs in a RAID group. This is currently a limitation in P9000 Performance Advisor. If you want to view the average utilization of a RAID group whose pool LDEVs form the VVols, go to Charts > THP Pool main category, select a RAID group and plot the RG Util (%) metric graph. The graph displays the ThP Pool RG Utilization for the selected RAID group.
• When you plot a chart for more than 250 components, the performance graphs for only the first 250 components are displayed in the chart. Workaround: To plot performance graphs for more than 250 components, you have to plot the graphs for the first 250 components in the existing chart window and then plot the graphs for the remaining components in a new chart window.
• After an InBand or Outband mode of configuration collection is performed for an XP or a P9000 (P9500) disk array, the names of the associated hosts might be displayed as Unknown in the Host column of the Data Grid Update screen. It is currently a limitation in P9000 Performance Advisor. • When a manual purge or data archival process is active, occasionally, you might notice that the management station overlooks data samples received from the host agents.
• On certain systems, occasionally, the P9000 Performance Advisor security and tomcat services do not start after an installation. It is because the msvcr71.dll file that is required for these services to start is not located in the system search path. Workaround: If the Performance Advisor security and tomcat services does not start after an installation, reboot the server. If the problem persists, contact HP support. • P9000Sketch does not support the .csv files generated using P9000Watch in the CLI mode.
