HP P9000 Tiered Storage Manager Software Update 7.2.0-03 Release Notes (TB585-96026, March 2012)
Important considerations
Shredding THP volumes in XP24000/XP20000
• If you specify the data deletion (shredding) option and perform the data migration for a migration
source THP volume in an XP24000/XP20000 disk array from Legacy mode or the CLI for Tiered
Storage Manager, the migration source volume shredding step completes but the deletion of the
migration source volume might generate an error.
◦ In Tiered Storage Manager Legacy mode, the error is 62010.
◦ In the Tiered Storage Manager 5.9.0-00 to 7.1.0-02 CLI, the error is KATS62011—E.
◦ In the Tiered Storage Manager 7.1.1-01 to 7.2.1-00 CLI, the error is KATS62010–E.
If this occurs, wait at least 40 minutes after the migration task completes. Delete the THP volume
that did not delete.
Refresh the XP24000/XP20000 disk array containing the migration source THP volume, then
delete the THP volume that did not delete.
CAUTION: The volume ID of the successful migration (target) volume changes to the volume ID
of its source volume. If the volume ID for deleting a THP volume is wrong, the data in the volume
is lost.
Migrating Mainframe THP volumes
If a Mainframe THP volume is migrated with optional shredding specified, the volume is not deleted
after the shredding. If necessary, delete the volume by using Element Manager.
The zero page reclaim option has no effect in migrations that have a Mainframe THP volume specified
as a source. The storage system automatically executes a zero page reclaim.
When a tier created from the Device Manager GUI is displayed on Tiered Storage
Manager
When a tier created from the Device Manager GUI meets any of the following conditions, the tier is
not displayed in the storage tiers of Tiered Storage Manager:
• The tier was created by directly specifying 101 or more volumes.
• The tier was created by selecting either of the following attributes in the advanced search criteria
and by specifying 101 or more values for the attribute:
◦ ID/Number/Name is specified for the category, and the Parity group on a controller that
hosts can access is specified for the attribute.
◦ ID/Number/Name is specified for the category, and the Parity group on a controller that
contains drives is specified for the attribute.
