General precautions
NOTE: When the full package of Device Manager 7.2.0-02 is applied, Tiered Storage Manager
7.2.0-02 is also applied automatically.
If you apply the Tiered Storage Manager upgrade patch 7.2.0-02, also apply the Device Manager
upgrade patch 7.2.0-02. You can apply these upgrade patches in any order.
• While the product version is being updated, do not start services and commands of the Tiered
Storage Manager server, Device Manager server, and Command View Advanced Edition Suite
Common Component. In addition, do not access any file under the installation folder.
• To update the product version, you must be a member of the Administrators group.
• Do not stop the update program before it has completed processing.
Windows precautions
• During the update, temporary files are created in the directory
Tiered-Storage-Manager-installation-directory\patch_backup_dir. For details
about the disk space required for these files, see Table 1 (page 7). These files are cleared when
a regular or corrected version of the product is installed.
• During the update, progress is output to the log file
Tiered-Storage-Manager-installation-directory\PATCHLOG.TXT. This file is
cleared when the next regular or corrected version of the product is installed.
Linux precautions
• Root permissions are required to perform the update.
• During the update, temporary files are created in the directory
Tiered-Storage-Manager-server-installation-directory/PatchLog. For details
about the disk space required for these files, see Table 2 (page 7). these files are cleared when
the next regular or corrected version of the product is installed.
• During the update, progress is output to the log file
Tiered-Storage-Manager-server-installation-directory/HTSM_PatchLog.log.
This file is cleared when the next regular or corrected version of the product is installed.
Update procedure for Windows
1. Confirm that the installed Tiered Storage Manager is one of the product versions listed in
“Prerequisites” (page 7).
Check the version of the Tiered Storage Manager server by referring to the version information
in the GUI. For details, see the online help.
2. Back up the database.

3. Stop the following services:
• Tiered Storage Manager server
• Device Manager server
• Command View Advanced Edition Suite Common Component
