Prerequisites for server installation locations (new installations only)
You can change the default installation location for the server .
If you change the destination, ensure that the path adheres to the restrictions in Table 1.
Table 1 Server installation path requirements

Linux:
A to Z, a to z, 0 to 9, underscores (_), and forward slashes (/)
Allowed characters
Windows:
• Do not include consecutive spaces.
• Do not include a period or space at the end of a folder name.
• Do not use parentheses, except when the path includes the Program Files
(x86) directory.
• Do not include a symbolic link and junction for the installation folder.
• Do not specify the root of a drive as the destination.
• Windows IPF or x64: Do not specify any of the following folders as the install-
ation destination because the product that is installed comprises 32-bit applic-
ations:
- The folder that is specified by the %ProgramFiles% environment variable
or a folder under that folder
- The folder that is specified by the %CommonProgramFiles% environment
variable or a folder under that folder
- The Windows-system-folder\system32 folder or a folder under that
folder
Linux:
• Do not include a path delimiter (/) at the end of the directory path.
• If Common Component has not been installed, ensure that the installation dir-
ectory you specify does not contain any files or subdirectories.
