When a volume is mapped to a virtual machine as a Raw device, information on a virtual machine

mapped volume might not appear in the Delete Storage window of the Plug-in for Virtualization Server

Provisioning.

If this occurs, confirm the configuration of the virtual machine with VMware vSphere Client.

Managing VMware ESXi 5.0 virtualization servers

The Device Manager server and the host agents can be installed on a VMware ESXi 5.0 guest operating

system. However, Device Manager cannot manage VMware ESXi 5.0 as a virtualization server.

Also, if VMware ESXi 5.0 is in the virtualization servers managed by VMware vCenter, Device Manager

cannot manage a virtualization server by specifying the VMware vCenter.

Using Device Manager to manage a virtual machine

When Device Manager manages a virtual machine, the characters of the machine name in the following

appear as encoded characters:

• In the GUI:

The value of VMname displayed in a virtual machine name subwindow

• In the CLI:

The name attribute values for VM instances that are collected by executing the GetHost command.

When Device Manager manages VMware ESX 3.5 without using VMware vSphere

If Device Manager is managing multiple instances of VMware ESX 3.5 without using vMA, only one

virtual machine can be managed among any virtual machines whose configuration files have the same

name

exceed 60 bytes. Use vMA to avoid this situation.
