1 Overview of HP XP P9000 for Business Continuity
Manager Software
This chapter explains the provided licenses and prerequisites for using Business Continuity Manager.
For more detailed information about Business Continuity Manager, see the HP XP P9000 for
Business Continuity Manager Software User Guide. In this document, Business Continuity Manager
is also called BC Manager.
Unless otherwise specified, the term storage system in this guide refers to the following disk arrays:
• HP XP24000 Disk Array
• HP XP20000 Disk Array
• HP XP12000 Disk Array
• HP XP10000 Disk Array
• HP XP1024 Disk Array
• HP XP128 Disk Array
• HP XP P9500 Disk Array
The GUI illustrations in this guide were created using a Windows computer with the Internet Explorer
browser. Actual windows may differ depending on the operating system and browser used. GUI
contents also vary with licensed program products, storage system models, and firmware versions.
Business Continuity Manager can control the following replication products:
• BC - Business Copy Z/Hitachi ShadowImage for Mainframe (SI)
• CA or Cnt Ac-S Z - Continuous Access Synchronous Z/Hitachi TrueCopy for Mainframe (TC)
• CAJ or Cnt Ac-J Z - Continuous Access Journal Z/Hitachi Universal Replicator for Mainframe
(UR)
• TCA or CAA - Hitachi TrueCopy Asynchronous for Mainframe (TCA)
NOTE: Hitachi TrueCopy Asynchronous (TCA) is supported on some HP XP Disk Arrays. TCA is
not supported on XP P9500, XP2000, or XP2400 Disk Arrays. Business Continuity Manager can
be used with both XP P9500 and XP disk arrays. The XP disk array copy products can be configured
and controlled using the XP P9000 version of BCM. With the exception of TrueCopy Asynchronous,
the HP product names are used in this manual. For compatibility with existing implementations on
XP disk arrays, the Hitachi abbreviations shown in parenthesis are accepted by the user interface.
The graphics in this manual show the Hitachi abbreviations, but your system may show the HP
abbreviations.
Licenses provided for Business Continuity Manager
To use Business Continuity Manager, you need to install the appropriate license.
There are two types of licenses for Business Continuity Manager: a license for using basic functions,
and licenses for using optional functions. When the license for using basic functions is installed,
you can define and manage:
• BC Z - HP Business Copy Z
• Cnt Ac-S Z - HP Continuous Access Synchronous Z
• Cnt Ac-J Z - HP Continuous Access Journal Z
• TCA - Hitachi TrueCopy Asynchronous for Mainframe
To use optional functions, install the required license.
Licenses provided for Business Continuity Manager 7
