Backing up configuration files
Acquire backups of the configuration files below.
• Copy group definition file (prefix.GRP.copy-group-ID)
• Disk configuration definition file (prefix.DSK.SNnnnnn.DAD-ID)
• Route list definition file (prefix.ROUTE.route-list-ID)
• Command device definition file (prefix.CDEV.DAD-ID)
• Path set definition file (prefix.PATH.path-set-ID)
If you change the dataset name when backing up the configuration files, make sure that you change
the prefix only.
The configuration files contain the copy group ID, device address domain ID (DAD ID), route list
ID, and path set ID. Therefore, if you change the dataset name, the consistency between the files
is lost, and then Business Continuity Manager might become inoperable.
For details about configuration files, see the HP XP P9000 for Business Continuity Manager Software
Reference Guide.
Backing up the program before migration
Before migration, acquire a backup of the dataset where Business Continuity Manager will be
installed.
Pre-upgrade procedure
Deleting the user SVC
If the version of the user SVC which is in effect in the current system is older than the version required
after upgrading Business Continuity Manager, you must delete the user SVC before you install the
new version of Business Continuity Manager.
To check the version of the user SVC which is in effect in the current system, use the YKINSCHK
command.
If the user SVC was registered by using the YKALCSVC command, you can use the YKALCSVC
command to delete the user SVC.
If the user SVC was registered by using the IEASVCxx parmlib member, you cannot use the
YKALCSVC command to delete the user SVC. In this case, perform the procedure below.
To delete a user SVC that was registered by using the IEASVCxx parmlib member:
1. Disable (comment out) the SYMDEF statement containing the &YKSVCNO system symbol in the
IEASYMxx parmlib member.
/* SYMDEF(&YKSVCNO='SVC-number') */
2. Disable (comment out) the SVCPARM statement containing the JYUASVC module in the
IEASYMxx parmlib member.
/* SVCPARM SVC-number,REPLACE,TYPE(3),EPNAME(JYUASVC),APF(NO),NPRMPT(NO),AR(NO) */
3. Perform re-IPL with the CLPA parameter specified.
For details on steps 1 and 2, see the MVS Initialization and Tuning Reference.
