HP XP P9000 for Business Continuity Manager Software Installation Guide
What to check before upgrading
Checking licenses
For Business Continuity Manager 5.5 or later, you cannot use license keys obtained for Business
Continuity Manager 5.3 or earlier. You must obtain a license key for Business Continuity Manager
version 5.5 or later.
Checking environment variables
Table 20 (page 43) lists the Business Continuity Manager environment variables that are used
when you perform an upgrade installation. Check the settings for these environment variables
before you upgrade.

For details about the YKDSPENV command, see “YKDSPENV command format” (page 36).

Checking the user SVC number
Check the user SVC number because you must assign the same number after upgrading. The
method of checking the user SVC number varies depending on whether the user SVC was registered
with the YKSETENV command or the IEASVCxx parmlib member.
• When the user SVC was registered by using the YKSETENV command
Check the value (user SVC number) specified in the YKALCSVC command parameter because
you will use this value during an upgrade installation.
• When the user SVC was registered by using the IEASVCxx parmlib member
Check the value set for the system symbol in Table 22 (page 44).
