Windows services
Before you install Application Agent, use the Services pane in the Windows Computer Management
console (for Windows Server 2003) or Server Manager console (for Windows Server 2008) to ensure
that the Windows services are set to the default settings as shown in the following table.

If you attempt to install RM Shadow Copy when these Windows services are not set to their default
settings, the VSS Provider service will not be registered as a Windows service.
Cluster or DAG configuration
For Windows 2003 cluster (MSCS), at least one distribution transaction coordinator (DTC) resource
is required and must be online on the cluster node where you plan to install Shadow Copy. For
Windows 2008 (or later), the DTC resource is not required.
Storage systems requirements
Application Agent supports the following storage systems:
• XP512/XP48
• XP12000/XP10000/SVS200
• XP24000/XP20000
• HP9500
• XP7
NOTE:
If the backup or database server operating system is Windows Server 2012, Application Agent only
supports the HP P9500 and XP7.
The volume replication functions required to use Application Agent with the storage systems are listed
in the following table.
