The following table lists common problems that occur in Device Manager and describes how to resolve
them.

For a user without Admin (user management) permission:
Ask a user with Admin (user management) permission
to unlock the account.
For a user with Admin (user management) permission:
Ask another user with Admin (user management) per-
mission to unlock the account. Alternatively, execute
the hcmdsunlockaccount command to unlock your
own account. For details about the hcmdsunlockac-
count command, see “Unlocking ac-
counts” on page 105.
PROBLEM: The GUI cannot be logged
in to.
CAUSE: The user account might have
been locked.

Edit the registry to change the area of the desktop heap.

PROBLEM: The services of Common
Component or the Device Manager
server cannot be started.
CAUSE: The desktop heap might be
insufficient.
