2-4-2 Changing the host name of the management server
This section describes how to change the host name of the management server.
CAUTION:
The host name must be no more than 32 bytes. You can use the following characters:
A to Z a to z 0 to 9 and -
Note that the host name cannot start and end with a hyphen (-).
If you have changed the host name of the management server before changing the settings files of XP
Command View AE Suite products, use the hostname command to display the new host name and write
it down (for Windows, the ipconfig /ALL command can also be used to display host names). For the
host name in the Device Manager settings file, specify the name you recorded earlier. Note that this
name is case-sensitive.
To change the host name of the management server:
1. If XP Command View AE Suite products whose versions are earlier than 5.7 are running, stop
their services.
For details about how to stop these services, see the manual for your product version.
2. Stop the services of XP Command View AE Suite and Common Component.
In Windows:
Select Start > All Programs > XP Command View AE > Device Manager > Stop Server
with Common Services.
In Linux:
Execute the following command:
installation-directory-for-Common-Component/bin/hcmdssrv -stop
3. If TLS/SSL is used for communication between the management server and management
clients or an SMI-S provider, recreate a server certificate of the management server by using
the new host name.
4. If the OS is Linux, edit the /etc/hosts file.
Change the host name of the management server to the new host name. Write the new host
name into the line above the localhost line.
5. Edit the httpsd.conf file.
Change the value for the ServerName parameter to the new host name. The httpsd.conf
file is stored in the following locations:
In Windows:
installation-folder-for-Common-Component\httpsd\conf\httpsd.conf
In Linux:
installation-directory-for-Common-Component/httpsd/conf/httpsd.conf
If TLS/SSL is used for communication between the management server and management
