HP StorageWorks P9000 Replication Manager Software 7.1 Configuration Guide (TB584-96022, May 2011)
NOTE:
Application Agent does not support a combination of SQL Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008
(x86) (because a 64-bit OS is expected to serve as the basic environment for this combination).
Server requirements
The following are the requirements and precautions for the database and backup servers.
Account for Application Agent Services
Before installing Application Agent, you must create an account that will be used to execute the
Application Agent Services (a collective term for the Copy Controller service and the Common Agent
Service).
The account must satisfy the following conditions:
• It must have OS administrator permissions.
• In Security Policy, Logon as a service must be enabled and Deny logon as a service must be dis-
abled.
• It must have the following database access permissions:
For backing up an Exchange database: The account used to execute Common Agent Service must
belong to the Enterprise Admins group or Exchange Domain Servers group in the domain. To
backup an Exchange database, the Exchange management tools must be installed on both the
database server and the backup server. For Exchange Server 2003, the ESEUTIL command must
also be installed. The ESEUTIL command does not need to be installed for any other versions of
Exchange Server.
For backing up a SQL Server database: Application Agent accesses SQL Server via Windows
authentication. Therefore, the account used to execute the Common Agent Service must be registered
as a member that has a sysadmin fixed server role for SQL Server.
Exchange Management Tool
The same version of Exchange Management Tool must be installed on the database and backup
servers.
ESEUTIL and Exchange Server 2003
To back up an Exchange database, the Exchange management tools must be installed on both the
database server and the backup server. For Exchange Server 2003, the ESEUTIL command must
also be installed. The ESEUTIL command does not need to be installed for any other versions of
Exchange Server.
The ESEUTIL command must be copied into the Application Agent installation folder. Copy the
following files from Exchange-installation-directory\bin to
Application-Agent-installation-directory\DRM\bin\util:
• ESE.dll
• ESEUTIL.exe
• EXCHMEM.dll
• EXOSAL.dll
