Usually, a host is the computer on which the
application programs are installed. HP
StorageWorks P9000 for Business Continuity
Manager Software or P9000 mainframe agent is
installed on a host.
Note: If Device Manager server is not registered
as an information source, or P9000 mainframe
agent is being used, the information displayed
by web client is limited. For details, see the
explanation about web client limitations in the HP
StorageWorks P9000 Replication Manager
Software User Guide.
By installing HP StorageWorks P9000 for Business
Continuity Manager Software (6.2 or later), you
can manage copy pairs from Replication
Manager. BCM Agent (installed as part of HP
StorageWorks P9000 for Business Continuity
Manager Software) handles requests from
Replication Manager. For more information, see
“P9000 mainframe agent versus BCM
Agent” on page 22.
If you use the remote scan function of HP
StorageWorks P9000 for Business Continuity
Manager Software, there is no need to install a
host (pair management server) at the remote site.
Note: You must set up an environment prior to
performing remote scans or using pair
management functions. For details, see the HP
StorageWorks P9000 for Business Continuity
Manager Software User Guide.
Like a pair management server in an open system,
a mainframe system host collects management
information, including copy pair statuses and
performance information for remote copying.
Therefore, a mainframe system host is sometimes
called a pair management server.
