Notes:
1. Use this formula to determine the number of copy pairs:
(number-of-copy-pairs-for-open-systems * 6) + number-of-copy-pairs-for-
mainframe-systems
NOTE:
In consideration of response time and memory usage, the maximum number of both open and
mainframe pairs that can be operated on by the Pair Configuration Wizard at one time is 1,000. In
the case of a mainframe system, when operating a copy group or consistency group that includes
25,000 or more copy pairs, specify Medium or Large for the memory size.
Number of copy pairs on open systems
If the number of copy pairs is 5,000 or more, edit the following Device Manager Agent properties
on the pair management server:
• server.agent.maxMemorySize in the server.properties file
• agent.rm.TimeOut in the agent.properties file

Number of copy pairs on mainframe systems
Among the number of copy pairs managed by Device Manager server and the number of copy pairs
managed by Business Continuity Manager Software, confirm that the larger number of copy pairs is
less than or equal to the value shown in Table 14.
Maximum number of LDEVs
The maximum number of manageable LDEVs is based on the total number of LDEVs in all managed
storage systems. The following table shows the maximum number of LDEVs.
In an environment where there are multiple sources for LDEV information acquisition, confirm that the
total number of LDEVs acquired from each information acquisition source is less than or equal to than
