HP P9000 Replication Manager Software 7.2 Configuration Guide
NOTE:
Replication Manager acquires configuration information from the Device
Manager server at the following times:
• When a configuration refresh is performed.
All configuration information is acquired when a configuration refresh is
performed.
• When a storage system setup window is launched.
In a configuration where Replication Manager and Device Manager are
running on the same pair management server, the configuration information
is acquired from Device Manager when the storage system setup windows
are displayed.
Therefore, when you execute storage system setup with Replication Manager,
you can confirm the latest Device Manager configuration information without
refreshing the configuration.
Specifically, the storage system setup operations for which you need not perform
configuration refresh are as follows:
• Command devices
• Pools
• Journal groups
• V-VOLs
For details about each storage system setup procedure, see the
HP P9000
Replication Manager Software User Guide
.
Acquiring copy pair statuses
Replication Manager sends a request to Device Manager Agent, which in turn uses P9000 RAID
Manager to collect the status of copy pairs from the storage system.
For a copy pair defined by the storage system (such as Remote Web Console), the status is ac-
quired from Device Manager server because the P9000 RAID Manager configuration definition
file is not available.
Acquiring performance information
Replication Manager issues a request to Device Manager Agent to acquire performance inform-
ation (such as the sidefile usage rate, pool volume usage rate, and write delay time (C/T delta)).
In turn, Device Manager Agent uses P9000 RAID Manager to obtain the data from the storage
system.
Creating and deleting copy pairs and changing copy pair statuses
Replication Manager issues a request to Device Manager Agent to create and delete copy pairs
or to change the status of copy pairs. The Device Manager Agent uses P9000 RAID Manager to
perform the operations on the storage system.

systems.
