9.1.4 Upgrade Commands
Table 9-3 lists the commands and utilities that are run as part of a software upgrade process.

Backs up the existing configuration and management database and
migrates existing data to the new release format.

9.1.5 Upgrading Existing HP XC Version 3.n Clusters With SFS to HP XC Version
4.0
If you are upgrading an existing HP XC Version 3.n cluster to HP XC Version 4.0, you must
upgrade your SFS server software to Version 2.3 and upgrade the SFS client software to the
appropriate SFS client package (see Table 5-2 (page 81)) .
See the SFS documentation to upgrade the SFS server and client or contact your local HP SFS
support center.
You must perform the SFS server upgrade first, and then perform the upgrade to XC Version
4.0 by following the upgrade instructions in this chapter.
If you are upgrading your existing HP XC Version 3.n cluster to HP XC Version 4.0, you cannot
upgrade to SFS G3.0-0 unless your hardware meets the requirements for SFS G3.0-0.
9.2 Preparing for the Upgrade
Perform the following tasks before you begin the upgrade process. Make sure you are logged in
as the root user on the head node.
1. Use the information listed in Table 9-4 to ensure that your system meets all requirements.
Your system must meet all requirements for an upgrade to be successful.
