13.1 InfiniBand Interconnect
The notes in this section apply to the InfiniBand interconnect.
13.1.1 enable Password Problem with Voltaire Switch Version 4.1
The instructions for configuring Voltaire InfiniBand switch controller cards requires you to
change the factory default passwords for the admin and enable accounts, as follows:
Insert new (up to 8 characters) Enter password :
An issue exists on the 144 and 288 port switch models which requires you to enter a password
with exactly eight characters for the enable account. The admin account is not affected.
If the new password does not contain exactly eight characters, the following message appears
when you try to log in with the new password:
Unauthorized mode for this user, wrong password or illegal mode in the first word.
This problem has been reported to Voltaire. As a workaround, choose a password that is exactly
eight characters.
13.1.2 Benign Messages with Cisco InfiniBand Switches
HP XC supports the use of Cisco InfiniBand switches, but some functionality originally developed
specifically for Voltaire InfiniBand switches does not function with hardware configurations
containing only Cisco switches. This functionality includes the ib_prodmode_mon and xcgraph
functions.
Ignore the following error messages related to Cisco InfiniBand switches, which might occur at
the following times:
• During cluster_config processing, which is using xcgraph:

Executing C52xcgraph gconfigure
Found no adapter info on IR0N00
Failed to find any Infiniband ports
• During OVP processing, which is using ib_prodmode_mon:
Testing infiniband_status ...
Searching /etc/hosts for Infiniband switches
Getting readings from IR0N00
No Infiniband switches were detected to be the master. Please verify that the
switches are accessible, configured and their system time is synchronized
with this system.
