HP XC System Software Release Notes for Version 3.2.1
1.3 OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution for InfiniBand Version 1.2.5
HP XC System Software installs the OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution (OFED) InfiniBand
software stack Version 1.2 by default.
Support for OFED Version 1.2.5 is available in the form of a patch that you can download from
the HP IT Resource Center (ITRC) website:
http://www.itrc.hp.com/
IMPORTANT: You must install the OFED Version 1.2.5 patch if your hardware configuration
contains ConnectX HCA cards. OFED Version 1.2.5 is not supported for any other HCA card
types.
If your hardware configuration contains a mixture of ConnectX and non-ConnectX HCA cards,
contact the HP XC Support Team:
xc_support@hp.com
1.4 NIC Bonding
NIC Bonding is available in this release. It allows multiple NIC devices to operate as and be
controlled as a single entity. The primary advantage of NIC Bonding is its failover capability.
The HP XC System Software Administration Guide describes how to configure NIC bonding.
1.5 New discover Command Options
The following options were added to the discover command:
--enc_number=enclosure_number The --enc_number= option was added to the enclosure
based discover command, and it is used in combination
with the --nodesonly= option.
The --enc_number= option enables you to perform a
nodes-only discovery on a selected enclosure. Rather than
specifying the enclosure ID, which is lengthy, you supply
the enclosure number. Use the shownode config
enclosures command to determine the enclosure
number.
, --extended The --extended option was added to the enclosure based
discover command, and it is used in combination with
the --nodesonly= option to discover when double
density server blades such as the ProLiant BL2x220c are
present in an HP BladeSystem enclosure.
The --extended option is required to correctly calculate
internal node numbering.
--maxnodes The --maxnodes option was added to the enclosure based
discover command. This new option enables you to
configure planned (but not yet present) compute nodes
into the hardware configuration to allow for future
expansion.
For the discovery process to work properly, you must also
run the cluster_prep command with the
–-enclosurebased option.
The command syntax is:
# ./discover --system --enclosurebased
--maxnodes=n
