HP XC System Software Release Notes for Version 3.0

The cluster_config utility rewrites the /etc/dhcpd.conf file, and if you edit this file before
running the utility, your changes to this file are lost.
Therefore, enter this command to save your customizations to the /etc/dhcpd.conf file before
running the cluster_config utility:
# cp /etc/dhcpd.conf /etc/dhcpd.conf.ORIG
5.5.4 Required Task on HP xw9300 Client Nodes: Remove acpi=off
HP xw9300 workstations do not need to be booted with acpi=off. Currently, the acpi=off
option is added automatically to the boot options of any imaged xw9300 client node.
Follow this procedure to prevent this:
1. Use the text editor of your choice to edit the
/opt/hptc/systemimager/etc/platform_vars.ini file.
2. Search for the section of options associated with the xw9300 workstation nodes.
3. Change the value of the acpi= option from off to on
4. Save your changes and exit the file.
5.6 Tasks to Perform After Running the cluster_config Utility
Perform the tasks described in this section after you run the cluster_config utility.
5.6.1 Increase the Imaging Time Out Limit on Systems With Large Disks
If your system contains disks that are 250 GB or larger in size, you may need to increase the 45
minute default allowed for imaging by the startsys command.
On systems with disks larger than 250 GB, use the --image_timeout=n option of startsys
to increase the image time out limit:
# startsys --image_and_boot --image_timeout=60
5.6.2 Edit the /etc/dhcpd.conf File
Perform this task only if your system is using either a Myricom interconnect or QsNet
II
interconnect with DHCP and you followed the instructions in “Save the Contents of the
/etc/dhcpd.conf File” (page 33) to save a backup copy of the /etc/dhcpd.conf file:
1. Use the text editor of you choice to open the /etc/dhcpd.conf file.
2. Use the text editor of your choice to open the /etc/dhcpd.conf.ORIG file.
3. Merge the customizations you made to the backup copy of the file when you configured the
switch monitoring line cards into the /etc/dhcpd.conf file.
Important:
Do not replace the newly-created /etc/dhcpd.conf file with the entire contents of the
.ORIG backup copy because the new version of the /etc/dhcpd.conf file may contain
new or additional information that is not present in the backup copy.
4. Save your changes to the /etc/dhcpd.conf file.
5. Restart the dhcpd service:
# service dhcpd restart
5.7 Tasks to Perform After the System is Imaged
Perform the tasks described in this section after you run the startsys utility to propagate the
golden image to all nodes and start your system.
