Table G-3 provides an explanation of the analysis.
Table G-3 Second Portion of cluster_config Analysis Option
DescriptionColumn Heading
Displays the number of nodes recommended for a particular role based
on the number of nodes in the system.
Recommend
Displays the actual number of nodes assigned with a particular role.
Compare this to the number of nodes shown in the Recommend column
to determine how the current number compares with the HP
recommendation. An asterisk (*) in this column indicates a shortage,
indicating that servers may have heavier than optimal workloads.
Assigned
Indicates a role that HP recommends and the current configuration does
not have it assigned.
Role Recommended (Role Rec)
Indicates that the nodes this role is assigned to (if any) do not include the
head node.
For example, the management_server role must be located on the head
node. If you do not take action, proper operation of the HP XC system is
not guaranteed.
Head Node Required (HN Req)
Indicates a role that HP recommends is advantageous to have on the head
node, but you have removed it or moved it to some other node.
Head Node Recommended (HN Rec)
Indicates that an external network connection is required on the node that
has this role. The term required in this case means that the service will not
work if an external network connection is not also present. For example,
network address translation (NAT) will not work if an external network
connection is not present.
External Connection Required (Ext Req)
Indicates that an external network connection is recommended on the
node that has this role.
External Connection Recommended (Ext
Rec)
Indicates that HP recommends this role be assigned to a dedicated node
with no other roles.
Exclusivity Recommended (Exc Rec)
This column lists all HP XC roles. The term optional indicates that the role
is not part of the recommended default configuration and assigning it to
a node depends upon the configuration you want.
Role
The letter N in any column indicates a configuration issue that is not
incorrect but could be improved.
N (Note)
The letter W in any column indicates a probable incorrect configuration
that will not result in a uncorrectable state, but HP recommends that you
correct the configuration.
W (Warning)
G.7 Customize Service and Client Configurations
The cluster_config utility enables you to add customized services to one or more nodes.
The function of these customized services and where you locate them is entirely up to you and
is outside the scope of this document. Customizing services configuration is intended for expert
HP XC users; this feature is typically not required or intended for the typical HP XC system.
From the command-line menu of the cluster_config utility, enter the letter p to continue the
system configuration process.
