HP XC System Software Installation Guide Version 3.2
IMPORTANT: Do not proceed to the next step in the upgrade process if the output from
the preupgradesys-lxc script indicates failures. If you cannot determine how to resolve
these errors, contact the HP XC Support team at the following e-mail address:
xc_support@hp.com
9. Save the current system configuration to a file to create a snapshot of the system configuration
before the upgrade:
# shownode config --admin > /var/log/preupgradesys-lxc/shownode_config.txt
8.5 Task 4: Upgrade HP XC RPMs for HP XC on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
The upgrade process uses YUM to determine RPM dependencies. YUM updates, installs, and
removes RPMs from the system accordingly.
Follow this procedure to upgrade the RPMs:
1. Change directory to the mount point of the DVD:
# cd /mnt/cdrom
2. Update the RPMs:
# upgraderpms-lxc
NOTE: Because the command output spans several pages, it is shown in Appendix L
(page 239). Return here when command processing is complete.
3. Unmount the DVD:
# cd
# umount /dev/cdrom
4. Eject the DVD from the drive.
5. Reboot the head node:
# reboot
Proceed to “Task 5: View the Results of the RPM Upgrade”.
8.6 Task 5: View the Results of the RPM Upgrade
Follow this procedure to view the results of the RPM upgrade process and verify that it was
successful:
1. Use the method of your choice to view the log file that contains the results of the HP XC
RPM upgrade process. This example uses the more command.
# more /var/log/upgrade/preupgradesys-lxc.log
2. Resolve all failed dependencies and RPM conflicts.
IMPORTANT: Do not proceed to the next upgrade task until you resolve all RPM upgrade
failures. If you cannot determine how to resolve these errors, contact the HP XC Support team
at the following e-mail address:
xc_support@hp.com
8.7 Task 6: Install Patches and Re-Install Additional Software
Follow this procedure to install patches and reinstall additional software on the upgraded system
now, before the golden image is propagated to all client nodes:
