HP XC System Software Installation Guide Version 3.2

7.7 Task 5: Configure, Image, and Verify the System
Follow this procedure to complete the system configuration and verification process:
1. If your system environment requires additional software from the HP XC DVD, install the
software now by following the instructions in “Task 3: Install Additional RPMs from the
HP XC DVD” (page 49).
2. Configure and image the system by performing all tasks documented in Chapter 3 (page 53).
IMPORTANT: When you run the cluster_prep utility, the system name of the head node
is changed to reflect its role on the HP XC system's administration network; this change has
no effect on the IP address or the name used to access the head node from outside the HP
XC system.
After running the cluster_prep utility, confirm that the new system-generated name for
the head node is different from the IP name assigned to the system's external network
connection.
3. Verify the successful installation and operation of the system by performing all tasks
documented in Chapter 4 (page 111).
IF you need troubleshooting information, see “Troubleshooting HP XC on Red Hat Enterprise
Linux” (page 179).
7.8 Obtaining Patches and Software Updates
See the following sources when you need to obtain software patches and updates:
Obtain Red Hat Linux user level and security fixes from your Red Hat software vendor.
Go to the HP IT Resource Center (ITRC) website to download patches for the HP XC System
Software layered on Red Hat Linux. The appropriate patches are shown with a RH4LXC
extension appended.

If an InfiniBand system interconnect is in use, you must obtain an updated InfiniBand driver

driver update RPM that is appropriate for the new kernel.
