Use the Disk Druid utility to partition the installation disk on the head node
as follows:
• swap space - 6 GB
• /boot or /boot/efi - 1 GB
• / (root) - 25 GB
• /var - 30 GB
• /hptc_cluster - 8 GB

You have considerable flexibility in selecting the Red Hat software to be
installed on your system, but HP recommends that at a minimum you install
the following package groups:
• X Window System
• GNOME Desktop Environment
Do not install any software from the Extras CD. If you are installing Red Hat
for Itanium systems select Everything.
You must also install the following packages:
• vi, emacs, and any other text editor that you prefer
• perl
• gcc
• telnet
• mysql packages

Proceed to “Task 3: Install Additional RPMs”.
7.5 Task 3: Install Additional RPMs
Determine if you have to install additional software before installing the HP XC System Software:
• InfiniBand interconnect
The OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution (OFED) software stack is included in RHEL4 U4,
and thus, the OpenIB service starts by default on the head node. OpenIB has not been
qualified, and you must install the Voltaire InfiniBand RPMs after you install the Red Hat
Enterprise Linux.
Follow this procedure to install the ibhost-biz-*.rpm before installing the HP XC System
Software. This rpm is provided by the vendor.
NOTE: You must obtain an updated InfiniBand driver from HP Support each time you
update the kernel.
1. Install the InfiniBand interconnect software using the instructions provided by the
vendor documentation.
2. Do the following to ensure that the OpenIB service does not start on the head node:
a. Stop the openib service:
# service openibd stop
b. Prevent the openib service from starting up at boot time:
