Appendix G Determining the Network Type
The information in this appendix applies only to cluster platforms with a Quadrics QsNet
II
interconnect.
During the processing of the cluster_config utility, the swmlogger gconfig script prompts you to
supply the network type of your system. The network type reflects the maximum number of ports the switch
can support. The network type is used to create the qsnet diagnostics database. The Quadrics diagnostic
database utilities will not work properly if you specify an incorrect network type.
Quadrics currently supports the following network types: QMS8, QMS16, QMS32, QMS64, QMS128,
QMF256, and QMF1024, where the digits represent the maximum number of ports.
Follow this procedure to determine your network type:
1. View the following file to determine the NumLevels value:
# cat /proc/qsnet/elan4/device0/position
NodeId 7
NumLevels 2
NumNodes 16
2. Use the information shown in Table G-1 to determine your network type based on the NumLevels
value you obtained in the previous step and the maximum number of ports in your switch.
