General Procedures for Administering Local User Accounts
In general, administering user accounts on the HP XC system is a 3-step process:
1. As superuser, run the appropriate commands to add, change, or delete a local user account on the
golden client management node (that is, the node that hosts the golden client service).
You can use the standard Linux user commands (useradd, usermod, and userdel) or use the
Network Information Service (NIS) across the system. Editing the appropriate files manually is not
recommended.
2. Transfer the necessary files from the local file system to the image server by way of the golden client.
3. Propagate this information to all the nodes in the system.
Steps 2 and 3 are discussed in more detail in “Distributing Software Throughout the System” (page 79).
Adding a Local User Account
Use the following procedure to add a user account and to propagate that information to all the nodes in the
system:
1. Log in to the golden client node as superuser.
2. Collect as much of the following information about this account as possible:
• Login name
This information is required.
• User's name
• User's password
