• Proceed to Section I.3.1 to configure an external Ethernet connection on any node except
the head node, which will connect the node directly to your public network.
• Proceed to Section I.3.2 modi fy node role assignments.
I.3.1 Adding an Ethernet Connection
To add a network Ethernet connection to a node other than the head node that will connect the
node directly to your public network, enter the letter e at the fo llowing prompt:

The following prompt is displayed. Enter the letter the e again to create a new Ethernet
connection or mo dify an existing connection:

Enter the letter b when you have completed your task to go back to the previous menu.
I.3.2 Modifying Node Role Assignments
Unless you modify the node role assignments, the following roles are assigned by default:
• The head node is assigned the external, disk_io, management_hub,
nat_client, node_management, resource_management, common,and
compute roles.
• All other nodes are assigned the common, nat_client,an
d compute roles.
• No n odes are config ured with the login role. Assigning a login role to a node enables
the LVS director service.
Section I.4 provides detailed definitions of all node roles.
