The default contents of this file is simil a r to the f o ll owi ng:
Base = 172
nodeBase = 172.20
cpBase = 172.21
swBase = 172.20.65
icBase = 172.22
otherBase = 172.23.0
netMask = 255.224.0.0
The following describes the parameters in this file:
Base
The comm on first octet that is used for all base IP addresses.
nodeBase
The base IP address of all nodes.
cpBase
The base IP address of the console branch.
swBase
The base IP address of the Ethernet switches.
icBase
The base IP address of the interconnect.
otherBase
The base IP address to be used for other devices, for example,
the interconnect line monitoring cards. This value is currently
not used by the discovery process.
netMask
The netm ask that is used for all connections on the
administrative network.
Any changes you m ake to this file must follow these guidelines:
• You can change o nly the first octet of a base address; 172 is the default.
• All base IP addresses must use the same first octet.
• You must use a private domain as defined by the RPC.
• Do not change the netm ask in this file. The interconnect currently uses a different
netmask ( 255.255.0.0), but because the interconnect is on a separate network, the
netmasks do not have to match.
3. Save your changes and exit the file. B ecause this is a read-only file, the method by which
you save the file depends upon the text editor you used.
Forexample,ifyouareusingthevi text editor, use :w! to save changes to a read-only
file.
Proceed to Section 4.6 to begin the discovery process.
4.6 Prepare the System and Discover System Components
The f irst step in the configuration process is the discovery of all system components.
Follow this p roced ure to prepare the system and configure the system topolo gy by discoverin g
all system components:
1. Begin this procedure as the root user on the head node.
2. Change to the following directory:
# cd /opt/hptc/config/sbin
