HP XC System Software Installation Guide Version 2.1
• The external IP address of the head node, if it is to be connected to an external netw ork
• The IP address of any other node t hat will have a con nection to an external network
When y ou contact your network administrator about assigning IP addresses, you must also
provide the host names for any sy stem that will h ave a connection to an external network,
therefore, consider the following:
• If you assign a login role to one or more nodes, what name will you use as the cluster alias?
This name is the ho st nam e by which users will l og in to the system.
• What name will you use as the host name for any node that has a connection to the external
network?
See Section C.1 for host naming guidelines.
2.5 Task 5: Have the License Key File Ready
Several XC software components require licensing, and two H P XC license key files were sent
to you in two separate email messages. If you ha ve not received your license key information,
contact your HP representative.
Save the contents of these two messages into one file named XC.lic, a sample of wh ich is
shown in Example 2-1. You must place this file in the appropriate directory during the system
configuration process, as described in Section 4 .4 . Create and save this file on another machine,
and record the location for use later.
_________________________ Note _________________________
The sample XC.lic shown in Example 2-1 is included in this manual for
illustrative purposes only; it is not intended for use a nd is not valid for your system.
