3.2 General Hardware Preparations
Make the following hardware preparations on all cluster platform types if you have not already
done so:
1. The connection of nodes to ProCurve switch ports is important for the automatic discovery
process. Ensure that all nodes are connected as described in Chapter 2.
2. Ensure that switches are configured to obtain IP addresses u sing DHCP, if possible. For
more inform ation on how to do this, see the docum ents that came with the ProCurve
hardware, which are also available at the following URL:
http://www.hp.com/go/hpprocurve
3. Ensure that any nodes connected to a Lustre™ file system server are on their own Gigabit
Ethernet switch.
4. Ensure that all nodes have the correct firmware revision and that all nodes in the system
are at the same fi rmware revision. (See Section 3 .1 .) The hardware preparation steps
shown in the following sections apply only if the nodes are running the correct firmware
revision; otherwise, menus and options m igh t be different.
Proceed to one of the following sections to make additional hardware preparations depending
upon your cluster platform:
• CP3000 systems (Section 3.3)
• CP4000 systems (Section 3.4)
• CP6000 systems (Section 3.5)
3.3 Preparing the Hardware for CP3000 Systems
Follow the procedures in this section to prepare each node before installing and configuring the
HP XC System Software; hardw are preparation tasks vary by server model:
• HP ProLiant DL140 G2 (Section 3.3.1)
• HP ProLiant DL360 G4 and DL380 G4 (Section 3.3.2)
3.3.1 Preparing HP ProLiant DL 140 G2 Nodes
On HP ProLian t DL140 G2 servers, the appropriate set tings for XC a re configured using the
BIOS Setup Utility.
