HP XC System Software Administration Guide Version 2.1
About This Document
This manual describes the procedures and tools that are required to maintain the HP XC
system. It provide s an o verview of the administrative environment and describes administration
tasks, node maintenance tasks, Load Sharing Facility (L S F®) administration tasks, an d
troubleshooting informa tio n.
An HP XC system is integrated with several open source software components. Some open
source software compon ents are being used for underlying techn olo gy, and their deployment
is transparent. Some open source software components require HP XC-specific user-level
documentation, and that kind of information is included in this d ocument, if required.
HP relies o n the documen tation provided by the open so urce developers to supply the
information you need to use their product. Fo r links to open so urce software docum e ntatio n for
products that are integrated with your XC system, see Supplemen tary Information.
Documentation for third-party h ard w are and software com ponents that are supported on the HP
XC system is supplied by the third-party vendor. However, information about the operatio n
of third-party software is included in this document if the fun c tionality of the third-party
component differs from standard behavior when used in the XC environment. In this case, HP
XC documentation supersedes informatio n supplied by the thir d-party vendor. For l inks to
related third-party Web sites, see Sup plementary Information.
Standard Linux® administrative tasks or the functions provided by standard Lin ux tools
and commands are d ocumented in comm ercially-available Linux reference manuals and
various Web sites. For more inform ation about obtainin g documentation for standard Linux
administrative tasks and associated topics, see the list o f Web sites and additional pub licat ions
provided in Re lated Information.
Intended Audience
This manual is intended for experienced Linux and LSF system administrators w ho already

system architecture, components, and concepts explained in the HP XC System Overview.
