Installing a package in a nondefault location means that you must update the
corresponding modulefile; you m ight need to ed it t he PATH and MANPATH
environment variables. Other changes are based on the software package and
its dependencies.
If you have installed a variant o f the pa
ckage, you might need to create a parallel
modulefile specifically for the v a
riant. For example, you might have a stand ard
application that you need to keep se
parate from a beta version of the same
application; in this case, you wou
ld set up a parallel modulefile and adjust it
accordingly.
1.11 Software Distribution
The HP XC system uses the SystemImager tool to synchronize the configuration of nodes acro ss
the cluster using image propagation. This allows for ease of installation of the initial software
and for ease of upgrading software and configuration files. See C hapter 7 for more information.
1.12 Recommended Administrative Tasks
Table 1-3 li sts recommended administrative tasks. Consider these recommendations when
establishing a site p olicy for administering your HP XC sy stem.
