HP XC System Software Administration Guide Version 2.1

1.8.4 Systemwide Directory
A systemwide directory is mounted at /hptc_cluster. T his directory c o ntains configuration
and log file information that is applicable across the system. Log files can be found under
/hptc_cluster/adm/logs.
________________________ Caution _______________________
Do not add, replace, or remove any files in t
his directory. Doing so will cause the
HP XC system to fail.
1.9 Log Files
Components that comprise the HP XC system generate their own log files. As discussed in
Chapter 6, some information is aggregated from local nodes to regional nodes a nd from regional
nodes to glob al nodes. Table 1-2 lists the com ponents and the p a th name of their log files.
Table 1-2: Log Files

1.10 Managing Modulefiles
Modulefiles provide a mechanism for accessing software commands and tools, particularly for
third-party software. The HP X C System Software does no t use modules for system-level
manipulation.
A modulefile co ntains the information that alters or sets shell environment variables, such as
PATH and MANPATH. So me modulefiles are provided with the HP XC System Softw are and are
available for you to lo ad. A modulefile must be loaded before it changes the users environment.
See the HP XC System Software Users Guide for information on creating modulefiles and
loading default modulefiles.
