17.3 Replacing a System Interconnect Card in an XC6000
System
Use the following procedure to r eplace a Myrinet system interconnect card, InfiniBand system
interconnect card, or a Quadrics system interconnect card in an XC6000 system. The exam ple
commands in the procedure use node n3.

The replacement system interconnect card must be the same as the system
interconnect card to be replaced.
1. Log in as superuser on the head node.
2. Ensure that no applications are running on the node with the faulty system interco nnect
card:
# scontrol update NodeName=n3 State=DRAINING \
Reason="Removing node"
3. Use the stopsys comm and to shut down the node (on which the card is to b e replaced)
in an orderly way:
# stopsys n3
4. If th e faulty system interconnect card is on the head node, shut down the nod e with the
shutdown command:
# shutdown -h now
5. Remove the old sy st em interconnect card.
6. Install the new system interconnect card.
7. Invoke the startsys command to turn on the node’s power:
# startsys n3
