Using HP WebQoS, you can configure, administer, operate, and monitor your system and control the sessions admitted to your web server so that it does not become overloaded. What’s in This Version? WebQoS 3.0 is available on the Windows 2000 and NT operating environments.

HP WebQoS for Windows Installation Requirements Installation Requirements This section contains some general information about product dependencies and requirements. • The WebQoS software includes six main components: the WebQoS Services for IIS (also referred to as the SCA), the WebQoS Controller Interface (also referred to as the SCI), the WebQoS Controller Operator (also referred to as the SCO), the WebQoS Management Console, the WebQoS Database, and the WebQoS API.

HP WebQoS for Windows Installation Requirements Installing the WebQoS Software You can install WebQoS software using one of two methods: • If you have the product CD-ROM, run the setup.exe program on the CD. To do this, either select the Run option from the Start menu, or from the Windows Explorer window, double-click on the setup.exe program on the CD. • If you downloaded the WebQoS software from the Internet, run the installation file W2KWebQoS.exe.

Single Server Installation The following steps describe the installation screens that you will see. Note that you can click the Cancel button at any time to quit the installation. 1. At the Welcome screen, click [Continue]. The WebQoS for Windows software is unpacked. 2. At the WebQoS Setup screen, click [Next].

The Select Program Folder screen allows you to add program icons to the selected Program Folder. The default Program Folder is the HPWebQoS folder. Or you can choose a different Program Folder. Click [Next] to begin the installation of the software files. 10. Enter a password to access the database and click [Next].

For Windows 2000, select Start -> Programs -> Administrative Tools -> Internet Services Manager. For Windows NT, select Start -> Programs -> Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack -> Microsoft Internet Information Server -> Internet Services Manager. 2.
HP WebQoS for Windows Installation Requirements You can restore the database from the backup by doing one of the following: • Return the database to the current state • Return the database to the state when the backup was made To return the database to the current state, do the following: 1. Stop the database. On a Windows NT system, go to the Control Panel and select Services. Highlight WebQoS DB and click on the Stop button.
HP WebQoS for Windows Installation Requirements 4. Start the database. On a Windows NT system, go to the Control Panel and select Services. Highlight WebQoS DB and click on the Start button. On a Windows 2000 system, click on Start -> Programs -> Administrative Tools -> Services. Highlight WebQoS DB, click on the Action menu, and click on Start. Installing Additional WebQoS Components If you need to install additional WebQoS components on your system, do the following: 1. Either run the setup.

Patches and Fixes in This Version In order to run HP WebQoS for Windows 2000, you must install Service Pack 1 (SP1). In order to run HP WebQoS for Windows NT 4.0, you must install Service Pack 6a (SP6a) and the Windows Scripting Host from option pack 4.
HP WebQoS for Windows Software Availability in Native Languages Software Availability in Native Languages HP WebQoS for Windows can be installed on a foreign language operating system. However, you cannot enter non-ASCII characters in the management console. The customizable defer and reject web pages (Defer.html and Reject.html) can be edited to contain foreign language contents. Refer to Appendix A of the manual for more information about these files.
