APPENDIX A – CHECKING MEMORY CONSUMPTION
1. Run Perfmon (Start, Run, perfmon, OK), and then switch to View Report (Ctrl+R).
Having an Avg. Disk Queue Length that is higher than 2 for anything longer than a short period
of time is the first sign that more memory might be needed.
2. Right-click and select Add Counters. Under Performance object, select MSSQL$HPWJA:Buffer
Manager.
3. Add the following objects: Buffer cache hit ratio, Page reads/sec, and Page writes/sec. Then
close the dialog.
