2 Using the gateway CLI and a USB flash drive
This chapter describes how to update the VMA SAN Gateway OE using the gateway CLI and a
USB flash drive.
Checking the current OE version running on the VMA SAN Gateway
1. To check your current VMA SAN Gateway OE software version, select one of the following
options:
• Connect to the gateway CLI using a terminal emulator utility, and one of the following:
◦ Use a null modem cable to connect to the serial access port on the back of the
gateway.
◦ Use a network ssh session to connect to the Ethernet port IP address of the gateway
• Connect to the console using a KVM or iLO remote console.
2. Log in to the VMA SAN Gateway. The default user is admin with no password.
3. At the CLI prompt, enter the > show version command.
The active version of the VMA SAN Gateway OE displays as in Figure 1.

• To display the available software OE images currently on the gateway, use the CLI show
image command.
• To manage VMA SAN Gateway images, use the gateway CLI image command.
