VCEM Profile Failover and Profile Moves
section reveals how an administrator may take advantage of this functionality to trigger
VCEM Profile Failovers.
VCEM provides ease-of-use enhancements for administrators to take advantage of this
functionality. Included are links to wizards, custom tool enabled CLI’s, and a collection of
events that may be customized by administrators. All of these combine to create a form of
automated failover in a VCEM environment.
In summary there are three major ways to use action on events with the VCEM failover
feature:
• Event notifies administrator but does not initiate Failover.
• Event initiates Failover but does not notify administrator.
• Event both notifies administrator and initiates Failover.
Configuring HP SIM Action on Events to initiate Failover
This section explains how to create a sample SIM action on event to invoke one of VCEM’s
CLI’s. While this is an example, these steps will be the same regardless of which of the
aforementioned three action on event usage possibilities the administrator would like to take
advantage of.
The VCEM homepage contains a link under Failover to “HP SIM Automatic Event Handling –
Manage Tasks”. This is a convenience link to SIM’s action on events. Click here to begin.
