HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager 6.1 Release Notes
Prerequisites
VCEM 6.1 can be used to update existing installations of VCEM 1.20, 1.3x, 1.40 or 6.0, and is delivered
on Insight Software media 6.1 which can be downloaded from http://www.hp.com/go/vcem.
Issues and workarounds
IMPORTANT: VCEM 6.1 supports the Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) browser, but the underlying Virtual
Connect Manager only supports IE8 in IE7 compatibility mode. Using IE8 to perform VCEM Domain
Maintenance tasks that access Virtual Connect Manager might result in failed or incomplete operations. HP
recommends Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) or Firefox 3.x as the preferred browsers for use with VCEM.
For a list of browsers supported by Virtual Connect Manager, see the
HP Virtual Connect for c-Class
BladeSystem User Guide
.
General
• License key fields are case-sensitive.
• In HP SIM, if you are logged on with an account created in HP SIM with the "operator" template and
attempt to execute VCEM Profile Failover by Hostname, or VCEM Profile Failover by IP address custom
tools, the following message appears: SSH public key authentication failed for user.
To resolve this issue, log in to HP SIM with an account created with Administrator rights and execute
the VCEM Profile Failover by Hostname or VCEM Profile Failover by IP address custom tools again.
Warning dialogs are not translated into Japanese
When other products, such as HP Insight Dynamics - VSE are being installed, VCEM might display a warning
to prevent potentially disruptive operations from being performed. The warnings are always displayed in
English.
VCEM performance
VCEM can be temporarily unresponsive if the CMS is under heavy load operation due to other products
such as HP Insight Dynamics – VSE. If this occurs the following message is displayed:
This action cannot be performed because the current user does not have the
required privileges.
To resolve this situation, wait until the CMS load is lighter and perform the operation again.
Managing VC Domain firmware 3.10 after installing or upgrading to VCEM 6.1
After installing or upgrading to VCEM 6.1 , attempts to create VC Domain Groups based on VC Domains
running VC Firmware 3.10 or attempts to add those VC Domains to a VC Domain Group might fail. This
behavior occurs because right after the installation or upgrade procedure finishes, VCEM is not able to load
the configurations that make it possible to manage the VC Domains. To resolve this situation, restart the HP
SIM services by entering the following commands:
1. mxstop
2. mxstart
Resolving removal of the last VC Domain from a VC Domain Group
If existing unassigned profiles targeted to be deleted from a VC Domain Group reaches 1600 addresses
(MAC or WWN) and the last VC Domain has lost connection with VCEM, the last domain will not be deleted.
Select one of the following options to resolve this situation:
• Reestablish the VC Domain connection and try to remove the last VC Domain from VC Domain Group
again.
• Delete the remaining unassigned server profiles from the VC Domain Group and then remove the last
VC Domain from the VC Domain Group.
