HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager Overview HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager (VCEM) version 6.3 centralizes network connection management and workload mobility for HP BladeSystem servers that use Virtual Connect to access local area networks (LANs), storage area networks (SANs), and converged network environments. VCEM helps organizations to increase productivity, respond faster to workload and infrastructure changes, and reduce operating costs.
Issues and workarounds IMPORTANT: VCEM 6.3 supports the Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) browser, but the underlying Virtual Connect Manager only supports IE8 in IE7 compatibility mode. Using IE8 to perform VCEM Domain Maintenance tasks that access Virtual Connect Manager might result in failed or incomplete operations. HP recommends Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) or Firefox 3.x as the preferred browsers for use with VCEM.
Reinstalling Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager If you attempt to remove an existing installation of VCEM and reinstall the same version or a later version, you might see the following error message: Failed to install Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager MAC/WWN database tables To resolve this situation, reinstall VCEM again because although the first reinstall attempt failed, the registry keys causing the problem are removed with the second installation attempt.
1. 2. 3. 4. • Select a non-version 2.30 firmware VC Domain in the VC Domain Group. For example, select a VC Domain with a 2.0x or 2.10 firmware. Put the VC Domain into VC Domain Maintenance. In maintenance mode, use the Virtual Connect Manager user interface to disable SNMP. Return to the VCEM user interface and accept the VC Domain maintenance changes. This action causes VCEM to propagate a SNMP disabled status to all members in the VC Domain Group.
Server profile operations • VCEM profile operations for Integrity server blades requires VC Domain versions 2.0x or later. • To create profiles for Integrity server blades that boot from SAN, you must manually configure the SAN boot entries in the blade server EFI console.
7. Go back to VCEM, and complete VC Domain Maintenance by clicking VC Domain Maintenance. Error popup appears when you select HP predefined ranges during remove VC Domain from Group or delete VC Domain Group operations Using the web browser in Japanese language causes an error popup to appear when you select a HP Pre-defined range to be used by a VC Domain that is being removed from a VC Domain Group. To resolve the issue: 1. 2. 3. Clear the Use Pre-defined range checkbox.
