LVM/VxVM and vPars sx2000 Upgrade

6
DETERMINING WHAT IS CONFIGURED IN EACH NPARTITION.
Prior to the physical upgrade, you must determine how many OS instances are running in each nPartition and how each OS instance
within the nPartition is configured. OS instances can be:
A standalone nPartition
A virtual partition
A virtual machine guest
A virtual machine host.
Write down all the information in the table provided in Appendix 1.
F
INDING ALL THE OS INSTANCES:
1. How many nPartitions are running on this system?
1.1. Access the Management Processor
1.2. Enter the Command Menu:
[sd] MP> cm
Enter HE to get a list of available commands
(Use ^B to return to main menu.)
[sd] MP:CM>
1.3. Obtain the partition cell assignments. Write the output.
[sd] MP:CM> cp
-------------------------------+
Cabinet | 0 | 1 |
-------------+--------+--------+
Slot |01234567|01234567|
-------------+--------+--------+

Partition 1 |.X....X.|........|
Partition 2 |...X....|........|
Partition 3 |.....X..|........|
Partition 4 |..X.X...|........|
[hpatm37] MP:CM>
2. Are these nPartitions running virtual partitions?
2.1. Log onto each of the previously found nPartitions and perform the following:
2.2. Check if vPars is installed:
# swlist | grep T1335BC
2.3. If the output is empty, this nPartition is a single OS instance:
2.3.1. Write it down as a single OS instance.
2.3.2. Check the next nPartition (step 2.1), or go to step 3 after you checked all nPartitions from 1.3.
2.4. If the output shows the vPars product, e.g.,
# swlist | grep T1335BC
T1335BC A.04.02.10 HP-UX Virtual Partitions for 11.23
2.4.1. Check that the vPars version is A.04.02.xx or later. If it is an earlier release, you need to update all the virtual partitions
to at least vPars version A.04.02 before performing the upgrade. For information on how to upgrade to the latest
version of vPars, see Chapter 4 of the manual Installing and Managing HP-UX Virtual Partitions.
2.4.2. Check the virtual partitions:
# vparstatus
[Virtual Partition]

Virtual Partition Name State Attributes Kernel Path Opts
