HP-UX Virtual Partitions Release Notes (A.05.05)
vPars A.05.05 Release Notes
This document provides information about the HP-UX Virtual Partitions (vPars) A.05.05 release.
vPars Overview
The HP-UX Virtual Partitions (vPars) product runs multiple instances of HP-UX simultaneously
on one server, or nPartition, by dividing it into virtual partitions. Each virtual partition is assigned
its own subset of hardware, runs a separate instance of HP-UX, and hosts its own set of
applications. vPars provides application and operating system fault isolation.
New and Changed Features in This Release
This section lists features that are new in this release, or previously available features that have
changed in this release.
Changes in This Release
The product number for vPars bundle is now changed to T1335DC. The Virtual Server
Environment Operating Environment (VSE OE) media for vPars contains the T1335DC bundle.
However, the Application Release (AR) media includes vPars bundle with both T1335CC and
T1335DC product numbers.
NOTE: On the AR media, the binary content of T1335CC and T1335DC products are the same.
New Features
The support for vPars configuration based on Locally Optimized Reference Architecture (LORA)
on multi-cell Integrity systems is now available with the vPars A.05.05 release. LORA is a
framework to increase system performance by exploiting the locality domains in HP servers
using the Non-Uniform Memory Architecture (NUMA). LORA support provides new vPars
processor core selection algorithms to enable CPU allocation based on memory proximity to the
partition. This enables vPar systems to produce better data transfer rate and reduce time to access
memory. Therefore, enhancing the performance significantly for vPars on Multi cell Integrity
systems. With LORA enabled, an administrator or a user can configure vPars using vparcreate
command along with CPU by count, Cell Local Memory (CLM). Also, specifying the I/O card
from the same cell as that of memory further enhances the system performance. For more
information on LORA, see http://docs.hp.com/en/14655/ENW-LORA-TW.pdf and HP-UX Virtual
Partitions Administrator’s Guide.
Compatibility and Installation Requirements
