What’s New in this Version of vPars (A.04.03)
CAUTION December 2006 Update
Please note that the 11.11 kernel patch PHKL_34915 mentioned in the
September 2006 Release Notes under “Patch and Patch Bundles” has been
found to be bad. The original context for this patch in the September 2006
Release Notes is below:
“PHKL_35144 is intended only for PA systems and should be available in
mid-October 2006. This patch eliminates a problem with an HPMC when
booting vPars after an nPartition configuration change. For 11i v1 PA
systems, the equivalent 11.11 patch is PHKL_34915 and is available now.”
The replacement to PHKL_35144 is PHKL_35795 and should be available in
February 2007.
Please note that the 11.23 patch PHKL_35144 does not exhibit a problem and
does not need to be replaced.
This version includes:
Support for Tape Devices on PA-RISC Servers
On PA-RISC servers running vPars A.04.03, you can use tape devices from within the
vPars environment; this includes recovery using tape devices. Note that you can use only
the tape devices that are already supported for PA-RISC servers in standalone mode;
vPars does not support devices beyond what is supported by the server itself.
For more information on tape recovery, see the recovery chapter in the manual Installing
and Managing HP-UX Virtual Partitions.
NOTE Renaming of A.03.03 Primary-Admin Feature
The Primary-Admin vPars Security feature introduced in vPars A.03.03 was
renamed to vPars Flexible Administrative Capability in vPars A.04.02 and
A.04.03 (this feature was not available in A.04.01). Accordingly, related terms,
such as primary-admin, were renamed in vPars A.04.02 and A.04.03. For
complete information, see the Flexible Administrative Capability chapter in the
manual Installing and Managing HP-UX Virtual Partitions.
