the Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI).
Note: SFM is compliant with vPars A.03.04
Supported EMS Hardware Monitors
The following Event Monitoring Service (EMS) monitors are supported by SFM on PA-RISC-based servers running the HP-UX 11i v1 operating
system:
LPMC (now CPU) (lpmc_em)
Memory (dm_memory)
Core HW (dm_core_hw)
Chassis Code (dm_chassis)
Disk (disk_em)
High Availability Disk Array (ha_disk_array)
IPMI Forward Progress Log Monitor (fpl_em)
Itanium Core Hardware Monitor (ia64_corehw)
Note: ia64_corehw monitor is supported only on IPMI-based PA-RISC systems.
Defect Fixes
QXCR1000956072
Problem: SFMProviderModule (SysFaultMgmt product) cimprovagt process show increased memory usage. After generating large number of events in
a short time, the memory footprint of the SFMProviderModule cimprovagt process increases.
Typically, the memory increase is seen over a long period of time (several months) if the cimprovagt process is not restarted. For more information on
how to restart the SFM process when a very high memory usage is observed, see the System Fault Management Administrator's Guide at:
http://www.hp.com/go/hpux-diagnostics-docs
Resolution: This problem is fixed.
QXCR1000922116
Problem: After installing QPKBase patch bundle which requires a system reboot, SFM does not process system events written to SFMDB.
Resolution: This problem is fixed.
QXCR1000970231
Problem: The SFM provider module is seen to hog the CPU time, which can go upto 100% of cpu cycle time.
Resolution: This problem is fixed.
QXCR1000593282
Problem: Errors are filled in api.log repeatedly on a Non-IPMI based PA system which does not support dm_chassis monitor. Error is logged every 5
minutes.
Resolution: This problem is fixed.
QXCR1000988402
Problem: The SFMProviderModule is degraded. When the command
cimprovider –ls is run at the HP-UX prompt, the following output is displayed:
SFMProviderModule Degraded
A core may also be generated at: /var/opt/wbem/core
Resolution: This problem is fixed.
EVWEB
This section describes EVWEB.
What Is EVWEB
EVWEB is a tool that can be used to view and administer WBEM indications generated on the HP-UX 11i v1 system.
The EVWEB tool includes the following components:
Event Subscription Administrator
Event Subscription Administrator enables users to subscribe to an indication and view it. In addition, users with administrative privileges can also
modify, and delete subscriptions. By subscribing to an indication, users can obtain detailed information about various WBEM indications.
As a part of event subscription, users must specify event subscription criteria. Users must also select one or more destinations to receive
information about indications.
Users can select one or more destination from the following list:
Event Archive: The path of Event Archive is /var/opt/sfmdb/pgsql. Event Archive is the default destination.
