Each event that occurs is assigned a severity level that reflects the impact that the event
has on system operation. For each event, you can define the method used to direct event
notification. For example, you might choose a notification method for critical events that
alerts you immediately about the occurrence and a method for less-important events that
directs them to a log file for examination at your convenience.
The following table identifies the severity levels that you can define for events:

4 Serious
3 Major Warning

1 Information

Support Tools Manager
Support Tools Manager (STM) is a collection of software tools that perform the
following function:
Provide verification that all of the hardware components on the system are
properly connected and functional.
Stress hardware components to assist in reproducing intermittent problems.
Test a particular component and isolate any failures to the most obvious field
replaceable unit (FRU).
Provide support tools for logging and disk backup.
