Starting with the HP-UX 11i v3 February 2007 release, SFM is installed by default on a system
running HP-UX 11i v3. SFM is the default monitoring mode on HP-UX 11i v3 operating systems
starting with the March 2008 release. This means that the core system hardware such as processors,
memory, fan, and power supplies are monitored by the SFM monitors instead of the EMS hardware
monitors.
